Cranes striker Farouk Miya praises retired captain Geoffrey Massa

(L-R) Farouk Miya and Moses Oloya are joined by captain Geoffrey Massa as they celebrate a score against Congo Brazzaville during the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers on 12 November 2016 at Mandela Stadium, Namboole.

Geoffrey Massa’s former striking line partner, Farouk Miya has praised the retired captain after he made his intention to hang his boots known. Massa revealed that he had made up his mind to retire from national duty.

“It was really a great pleasure to play with you and not only as a player but as a good person on and off the pitch. Thanks for inspiring us and serving the nation. You will always be remembered in Uganda and I would like to wish you the best in everything you do”, Miya posted on Facebook.

Miya started playing alongside Massa in 2014 when he made his national team debut. Since then they had been the leading the attacking line which successfully delivered Uganda to a historic return to Afcon, the continental showpiece after 39 years.

He is expected in the country today to officially brief the press, fans and nation.
