Fashion Friday: How to slay this cold weekend

No more grumbling about the scotching sun. Well at least not for now. The cold season is here and how you’re prepared for it is what’s going to get you through. Wait a minute, just because it’s cold outside, doesn’t mean you should resign on style. Even in the coldest of them days, you can still slay it. Here’s how to.

1. Let your pretty open shoes take a hike. Take to closed shoes and more especially those with good warm leather. Else, this is the time to count yourself among the lucky should you be the same shoe size with your boyfriend. There’s every excuse to borrow one of his monochrome or vans old school sneakers and they are on fashion. You could also steal the show with killer ankle boots, pair them with cuffed jeans or a dress to knock them out.

2. Stay away from those tight clothes especially if they’re not cotton. It’s a common misconception that the closer the clothing to the body, the warmer you feel. Actually, the body needs to generate its own heat and looser clothes give your skin enough space to do so. Belt them up to give them a new look and everyone will be eying your style. Talk about two birds, one stone.

2. Now is the time to pull out those trench coats. I know how painful it is to invest in a couple or more designer trench coats and every day, the sun never allows you to slay with them. If you don’t have one, now is the time to run to the designer store.

3. Maxi- they are back in style. Those round, sweeping dresses are back in style and you couldn’t find a better wear this cold season than a dress you’ll literally wrap yourself in. Those ankle boots we talked about up there, will make wonders with this dress.

4. Layer up in a trendy way. A turtleneck, under a sweater, for instance, will definitely keep you warm and so will a dress or skirt over a pair of pants. And who said that girls do not wear vests? A vest under a dress or blouse will also do the warm trick.

5. The trend alert for men this season is whether shorts, jeans or chino pants, when it comes to tops, think tees, camouflage or bomber jackets and throw ones.
