Happy Farmer to equip farmers with passion fruit farming knowledge this Saturday

This Saturday, Happy Farmer, an agricultural consultancy firm will hold a one day farming training camp at the National Crop Resources Research Institute in Namulonge, Gayaza.

The training, which will start at 8am, will equip farmers with knowledge of best practices in commercial passion fruit growing.

Farmers will leave the camp having learnt how best they can overcome common passion fruit growing challenges which include; high disease incidences, low productivity plus lack of skill and knowledge in fruit farm management.

“Agriculture is not a quick money scheme; it’s a long term business.  If handled very well, farmers can eradicate poverty,” said Allan Ssempala Kigozi, the head of Happy Farmer.

“Happy Farmer will use this platform to recruit potential farmers. We shall also monitor farmers’ gardens until the harvesting period to ensure they harvest the best yields. These farmers will also not have to worry about the market of their yields. As Happy Farmer, we are the market,” he added.

For one to be part of the training, he/she has to pay Shs70,000. This will cater for individual’s transport, meals and training. Payments can be made via PayWay.

The event is organised by Happy Farmer in conjunction with KIB, in association with NaCRRI, NBS, CBS, Matooke Republic and MTK.
