Cheating levels hits record low in S6 UACE results. Only 63 candidates withheld

It seems cheating could soon be a thing of the past after Uganda National Examination Board revealed that only 63 results have been withheld.

The 2016 UACE results were handed over to the Minister of Education and Sports Hon. Janet Kataha Museveni by UNEB Chairperson Prof. Mary Okwakol at office of the Prime Minister in Kampala.

A total of 104,361 students registered for these exams last year. Only 63 students’ results have been with held for malpractice, this has shown a reduction in malpractice having dropped from 279 cases in 2015.

“Economics and science subjects were poorly done. Biology worst performed (40.8%) obtained principle pass ‘E’, stated UNEB Executive Secretary Daniel Odongo. 39,797 students got three principal passes, 27,831 got two principal passes and 21,031 got only one principal pass.

As always, central districts performed highly with Mukono topping, followed by Wakiso and finally Kampala.

Unlike last year where boys triumphed the girls, “Overall, females performed better than males as many candidates qualify for university and tertiary institutions” said Janet Museveni
