Eye witness’ account: How police tracked down and shot seven robbers today afternoon at City Oil Kamwokya

There was gunfire today afternoon at City Oil fuel station just outside Cafe Javas in Kamwokya. Robbers probably fleeing or intending to rob the city restaurant were cornered by Police who shot at them and arrested them all. Andrew Irumba Live,  an eye witness of the movie-like occurrence, shared his detailed experience on Facebook.

“I was right at the pump,at City Oil Kisementi for fuel when this numberless car parked there with about 7 occupants, but when I looked at them I started smelling a rat on their looks and postures (never wanting to look straight to my face).'”, he revealed how it all started.

Andrew’s instinct and fears were confirmed  a reality when another vehicle with security operatives pulled at the scene shortly after. This was like a movie!

“Soon in about three minutes another car parked and plain clothed security operatives pulled out with guns and ordered these other ones to surrender, they pretended to be surrendering but tactfully shot in the air as they tried to escape”, he continued.

Apparently, the security operatives had been tipped off and trailed the down James Bond style. Then the action started as police shot at them not to kill but disable their legs.

“The security operatives, who had been trailing them from CPS through their phones, disabled all of them by shooting in the legs”, he narrated

.At this point, he realised they were indeed robbers.

“I saw a big black bag suspected to be full of money (according to other witnesses on the scene) which they had stolen. Police took it as exhibit; the car is still parked at the scene with flat tyres, because when they tried to drive off, operatives deflated all the tyres with bullets”, his post narrated.

However, one of the workers at City Oil was caught in the cross-fire and was shot in the stomach. Fortunately, he was immediately rushed to Mulago hospital.

“Unfortunately, one of the workers at City oil was shot in the stomach by a stray bullet as the thugs tried to flee to his direction and the operatives directed there bullets. He was rushed to Mulago hospital immediately by management, police this time round responded in time with their Ambulance (Patrol) car which they called in record time, but management had used its car”, his post concluded.

This is a developing story.
