Deadly accident claims over 14 school children along Jinja Kampala highway

A horrific accident this afternoon has claimed the lives of over 14 children after a trailer rammed into a taxi in Mabira forest at Najjembe along Jinja-Kampala highway.

The accident involved a trailer reg. no. UAY 8949G/UAU 6505 and a commuter taxi reg. no. UAZ 350U.



According to an eye witness, the accident occurred when the trailer which was coming from Kampala collided head-on with the taxi from the opposite direction.

The force of impact sheared the taxi in half, and pushed it to the roadside with bodies of the deceased hanging through the windows some cut into pieces.

Officials from the Uganda Police, Lugazi were at the scene to initiate an investigation into the crash. Eye witnesses attributed the accident to over speeding.
