Cranes stars that have no clubs after AFCON

Many Ugandans anticipated that our AFCON participation after a 39-year
wait will open doors for our boys to land foreign club deals. But it
seems it was a mere myth because many are instead struggling to remain
at their respective clubs.

Uganda Cranes striker Yunus Sentamu who stormed Uganda’s soccer charts
in 2014 CHAN Tournament that was held in South Africa now is a free
agent. Sentamu is in search for a new club after parting ways with his
Finnish based club, F.C Ilves Tempere. The striker joined Iives in
June 2016 since then he made 13 appearances for the club, scoring
three goals.

Another Cranes star in search for a team is defender Isaac Isinde, his
contract at St George Football Club where he has been since 2011 was
not renewed by the club board.

Cranes duo Captain Geoffrey Massa and Khalid Aucho are other players
facing uncertain future at their club Baroka FC, South Africa. Early
January reports from South Africa stated that Baroka FC had terminated
their contracts after failing to impress in the first half of the ABSA
Premiership.

However,  Baroka FC’s CEO Morgan Mammila came out to clear the air
claiming that the duo were part of the squad.  “Aucho and Massa are
both still on our books, Aucho is a hard worker, but football is like
that, if coaches don’t see them as good players, us as management,
there’s nothing we can do.” said Mammila

We pray for our struggling stars to get clubs and resurrect their club
football careers.
