Makerere, MUBS Universities lock horns over new fees structure

Another controversy has engulfed Makerere university as it tries to impose a new fees structure.

The discrepancy comes after the introduction of a new fee by Makerere University that requires MUBS students to pay for being their affiliates- a move that has been rejected by the MUBS administration.

We have learnt from Capital FM that Peter Odoki the public relations officer at Makerere University business school said that the new fees Makerere University intends to impose on their students is not necessary. It will instead cause an extra burden to parents and  also contravenes section 132 of the Universities and other Tertiary Institutions Act.

Odoki says MUBS is still part of Makerere University because it has not yet seceded. However, Makerere University says MUBS must remit the money or else its students will not graduate in March- a move which has been protested by MUBS.
