Rubaga south MP Kato Lubwama is today expected to appear before Kampala high court to hear to the ruling on whether his plaintiff Habib Buwembo also an activist from Lubaga South will be allowed to file a petition against him being his area MP.
In his application through the Centre for Legal Aid, Buwembo claimed Lubwama failed his O-level exams and was not awarded a UNEB certificate so he went to court seeking an order to file a petition through his lawyer Isaac Ssemakadde.
Lubwama’s lawyers led by Samuel Muyizi asked court to dismiss the application saying he filed it past the stipulated time of filing election petitions.
However, on November 24th this year, high court judge Margaret Oumo Oguli after hearing submissions from both sides promised to give her final judgment today.
If Buwembo’s electoral petition is to be allowed, he will argue that the grades that Lubwama obtained at O-level were not sufficient for him to be awarded the certificate and if Lubwama pleads guilty to the accusations, he might be relieved of his duties out of Parliament as the Lubaga South MP.
