We finally landed on the reasons why NTV senior reporter Julius Ssenkadwa did not cross to NBS TV, like we had earlier reported. Ssenkandwa who was on the verge of signing up to start work on December 1, had a last minute change of mind.

According to well-placed sources, after reading a story we ran on these very pages, which indicated that Ssenkandwa and a few other senior journos from NTV were set to join NBS TV, officials from NTV’s parent company in Nairobi decided to fly in and manage the situation.

“Ssenkandwa and the rest that had tendered in their resignations were called into a meeting by management at NTV Uganda, who told them that Nairobi had sent in officials to meet all staff to iron out the issues that were causing their departure,” a source intimated.

According to the source, by the end of the meeting with the people from Nairobi, an order was issued for “all staff salaries to be reviewed effective immediately,” with a few other benefits added on to the packages of all senior staff members. When contacted, Ssenkandwa insisted he was unable to comment on the matter.
