As you read this, one of the most popular singers from Northern Uganda Lucky Bosmic Otim is in police custody. The dreadlocked singer has been arrested for allegedly having a hand in a wave of gang crimes that is sweeping across Gulu town.
Lucky Bosmic Otim, the self-proclaimed president of Nile Republic Music Crew and another artist only identified as Maria were picked up by police on Tuesday after investigations linked them to the crimes. James Asubu, the Officer in Charge of Crimes at Gulu Central Police Station declined to comment on the arrest of the artists.
Gulu town of late has been at the centre of gang-related crimes where hooligans wielding sticks and machetes beat up innocent civilians and make off with their property. Singer 2-Pee has been a victim of these gangs and local radio personalities.
