UPDF officer who shot 14-year-old over stealing a jack-fruit is yet to face the law

John Ojongole, a UPDF officer  and also a  Kyabazinga security guard  shot a 14-year old boy for allegedly stealing jackfruit. The victim identified as Umar Batambuze met his fate when his survival instincts led him to Kyabazinga’s garden.  

Ojongole was yesterday arrested for gunning down the hungry Umar. He was carrying the hunger slaying bounty on his head when the bullet sent him down.   .



Micheal Kasadha the Busoga North police spokesperson where the incident occurred confirmed the arrest of Ojongole.

‘’The guard has been arrested and he is being detained at Kamuli Central Police Station as investigations into the incident continue,’’ Kasadha said.

Kasadha  revealed that the boy  is admitted at Kamuli hospital under the care of her mother Fatuma Nabirye.

Kyabazinga is the traditional leader of Busoga kingdom.
