Guests at SK Mbuga’s Kasiki that was held last evening at Guvnor were disappointed as they had to dig into their pockets for drinks yet the moneybags had promised an open bar.
Mbuga is organising what he has referred to as the wedding of the year, with a staggering Shs5bn budget.
So when they received their invites to his kasiki, guests prepared their throats and rescheduled all their next day’s appointments in anticipation of massive hangovers that come with attending an open bar party.
Those who didn’t go with money did not anticipate that it would only be saliva that would run down their throats.
It was much later in the night, long after the performances, when the guests had almost given up on free drinks that it was announced that the bar would be opened. But this was not your usual open bar as terms and conditions applied. You had to have a coupon to access the drinks.
World War III ensued as people fought the for the coupons that were not enough for them all. Some where had cursing, wondering which rich man hands out coupons for drinks as they had expected to literally drown in booze.
Meanwhile, it was business as usual for the artistes who performed at the Kasiki like Ziza Bafana and Desire Luzinda they were cheered on with $5 bills from Mbuga. Well, at least the guests had some entertainment.
Wedding related festivities began over the weekend with Vivianne’s bridal shower before her Kasiki on Monday. The big do is on Saturday with a 1,000 guests’ reception at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
