Uganda’s representatives at the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMAs) that were held in Johannesburg South Africa last night came out empty handed. Bebe Cool and Sheebah conceded defeat but Kenzo insists he was cheated.
Kenzo lost the Best Live Act award to South Africa’s Cassper Nyovest cried foul. He came out on social media with one word, “Politics” just after Cassper was announced winner.
When fans criticised him for taking things, personally, he expounded saying he led in the public voting and expected to win the award but was surprised when Cassper was announced, saying it is because the awards were sponsored by MTN yet he is an Airtel brand ambassador.
“I’m Airtel ambassador and MTN is the main sponsor for MAMAs and the winner in my category is MTN ambassador South Africa. Hehehe just for just,” Kenzo said sarcastically.
“Remember!! I have performed in over 35 countries 10 of them full stadium what else? They told us to vote and my fans did go on all @mtvbaseafrica platforms click on #Bestliveact and see the winner by yourself. I’m not being jealous here, but I do complain because they told us to vote and the fans decide. Go back and check their posts. That’s what they said even in emails. I was the most voted in my category remember when you click on #Bestliveact you can see the results Stonboy was second, Flavour third and Cassper fourth on all @mtvbaseafrica platforms. Even if it was you, you would have felt the same. May be I didn’t understand the word vote for your favourite nominee. A big thanks to my fans guys the love was real may the Almighty bless the work of your hands,” Kenzo, a winner of a 2015 BET Award said.
Meanwhile Cassper Nyovest who took the Best Live Act award was convinced with the reasults (for obvious reasons).
“I have the best fans in the world!!! Thank you so much for voting and supporting me always!!! See you next week at Orlando Stadium.#TeamNyovest #BestLiveAct #MTVMama2016,” he posted on his Facebook page.
