Opposition leader Kizza Besigye has termed charges opened up against police officers who were recently seen beating up his supporters as drama, because he believes they received orders from the IGP General Kale Kayihura who even came up to applaud their actions while addressing the press about the incident.
“I consider what they did to charge the police officers as drama because the person who ordered them, applauded their actions and congratulated them for doing a good job, is the same person charging them,” Besigye said.
Besigye addressed this issue after reports of Kayihura transferring the commander of Kampala Metropolitan Police, Mr. Abbas Byakagaba together with his senior officers accusing them of beating Besigye supporters and hence replacing him with Mr. Frank Mwesigwa.
