car thieves1Do you have a GPS tracking system in your car? Most probably not. Not many Ugandans value installing such gadgets in their vehicles. It is usually big companies that install GPS tracking devices in their vehicles.

Well, the GPS tracker just helped Brian Baine owner of a new Mercedes Benz UAY 042W to recover his vehicle.

Kira Road Police Division Police Commander Michael Kasigire has revealed the arrest of three thugs suspected to have robbed a car from Kyaliwajala in Wakiso district, thanks to a GPS tracking system.

“The owner of the Benz was ambushed while opening his gate at around 4:10am in the morning earlier today. The goons just entered the car and drove off”. He called me to help him track the car since it had a tracker and I responded immediately,” Kasigire said.

Kira road police coordinated with the Eastern Uganda police stations since the GPS showed that the car was heading East via Mukono town. Police ordered for a road block on Tirinyi-road in Mbale where the suspects fell into the trap.

The car has been recovered and according to Kasigire, the suspects are in police custody pending further investigations.
