UPDF soldier shoots four, kills self.

Just a few weeks after a UPDF soldier attacked a barracks in Makindye division Kampala district, another UPDF attached to Gaddafi Barracks in Jinja District, left the town in bitterness after opening fire in bar and injuring four people before killing himself instantly.

Having have had misunderstandings with his wife at home, the soldier stormed a bar near Umbercoat market in search of the bar owner, a lady known as mama Kayanja.

The soldier who was later identified by Jinja District Police Commander Mr. Felix Mugizi as Private Steven Ajuna, allegedly accused mama Kayanja for interfering in his marital affairs. According to the witnesses Private Steven seemed to not physically know the woman in question. “ The soldier came asking for mama Kanyanja but he didn’t know the person he was looking for. Then he started shooting randomly before shooting himself.”

Mr. Mugizi also confirmed that four magazines of ammunition and AK47 submachine gun were recovered at the Scene. He also identified the injured victims as Ms. Grace Nakimera, Mr. Moses Dolly, Ms. Olivia Nalubega and a one Frank. They are currently receiving treatment at Jinja hospital.

According to Mr. Samuel Wangu Nangabo head of management and security at Umbercoat Market, the incident happened around 9:30 pm Wednesday night. Mr. Samuel added that mama Kayanja must have been the initial target but the soldier couldn’t hold his agitation for long.
