The soldier who was later identified by Jinja District Police Commander Mr. Felix Mugizi as Private Steven Ajuna, allegedly accused mama Kayanja for interfering in his marital affairs. Then he started shooting randomly before shooting himself.”

Mr. Mugizi also confirmed that four magazines of ammunition and AK47 submachine gun were recovered at the Scene. He also identified the injured victims as Ms. Grace Nakimera, Mr. Moses Dolly, Ms. Olivia Nalubega and a one Frank. They are currently receiving treatment at Jinja hospital.

According to Mr. Samuel Wangu Nangabo head of management and security at Umbercoat Market, the incident happened around 9:30 pm Wednesday night. Mr. Samuel added that mama Kayanja must have been the initial target but the soldier couldn’t hold his agitation for long.
