Dr Stella Nyanzi was suspended by the Makerere University admissions board on Friday over her naked protest, and now she has threatened to undress at the university’s Freedom Square if her boss Prof. Mahmood Mamdani doesn’t receive the same treatment.
“If the Appointments Board at Makerere University does not suspend Mahmood Mamdani, I will undress at the Freedom Square in protest against this board’s exoneration of his hand in creating the #RotAtMISR.”
The Freedom Square is the green belt below the university’s Main Building and adjacent to the library where official functions like graduations usually take place.
Dr. Nyanzi undressed live on TV last Monday, protesting being evicted from office by Makerere Insitute of Social Research (MISR) boss Mahmood Mamdani. Mamdani says Nyanzi refused to teach on the university’s Phd programme while Nyanzi says her contract only stated she was a researcher.
“Mamdani sodomized my contract as a Research Fellow by forcing me to teach. Mamdani raped the Human Resources policy by killing all premiere levels of appeal against staff victimisation. Mamdani overstepped his pay-check by evicting me from my office in this public institute. Mamdani raised his middle finger to the Deputy Vice Chancellor who stayed the eviction. And Mamdani was insubordinate to the Committee that summoned him to explain the MISR saga,” Nyanzi says.
“Rather than penalise Mahmood Mamdani for variously injurying me, the Appointments Board suspended me. I am going to undress myself at the Freedom Square of Makerere University, if Mahmood Mamdani is not suspended in equal measure.”
