For the first time since the party launched its “Free My Vote” campaign, former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Kizza Besigye managed to attend the weekly prayers at their main office in Najjanankumbi.
Last week, Besigye was blocked by Police from attending the party’s weekly prayers in Najjanankumbi. However, Besigye was allowed to attend today’s prayers after passing through the designated routes including Kitetikka, Kisaasi, Bukoto and Entebbe road to get to the party’s headquarters.
With last week’s incidents, Besigye is yet to record a statement with the Police for allegedly disobeying lawful orders. Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga said on Monday, “We have summoned Besigye to appear on April 13 (tomorrow) for statement recording. Besigye has persistently demeaned police orders.”
Besigye was blocked from attending last week’s prayers after falling to use the proposed routes by the Police and was later arrested and detained at Nagalama Police Station before being released later that day.
