On Monday the High Court in Kampala issued an interim order overturning the decision of the National Social Security Fund board to suspend the NSSF deputy managing director Ms Geraldine Ssali. The court order came after Ms Ssali went to court to challenge a move to send her on forced leave by the board of the workers’ fund.
Through her lawyer Rogers Bikala, the deputy MD dragged the Fund and its board chairman Patrick Kaberenge to court, seeking judicial review after the latter wrote to her asking her to take leave on March 9 to pave way for an inquiry into her conduct.
Ms Ssali has for long been known not to enjoy a good working relationship with the Fund‘s managing director Richard Byarugaba. Board chairman Kaberenge is said to have separately met with the two NSSF honchos earlier this year, and convinced them to have a meeting which happened last week. Matooke Republic learnt, however, that nothing came out of that meeting.
