The tax man has come knocking at singer Bobi Wine’s door.
Information reaching us is that the Uganda Revenue Authority has written to him demanding for more than Shs54m in tax arrears and penalties accruing from non-payment of income tax since 2008.
According to the tax body, several demand notices have been sent to the singer but he hasn’t responded.
URA now warns that if Bobi Wine does not respond “positively and expeditiously” to the demand notice, the tax body will also demand interest on the said monies.
It should be recalled that in 2014, singer Jose Chameleone’s Escalade was impounded by URA from Lugogo Indoor Stadium at the day of his concert over non-payment of taxes. He was later able to rescue his vehicle after reaching an agreement over settling his dues.
Bobi Wine is considered one of the wealthy musicians with Semakokiro Plaza in Kamwokya and One Love Beach Busabala to his name, among other assets.
