It is graduation season and KCCA’s Executive Director, Jennifer Semakula Musisi hasn’t been left out. In fact she has just got herself a Ph.D and a new title of Doctor.
But wait a minute. Unlike most graudands who burnt the midnight oil to pass exams, Dr Jenny’s is a honary degree she received because of her exemplary work at KCCA.
Yesterday, Dr. Musisi received the Honorary, Doctoral degree in Humanities – Philosophiae Doctor (Ph.D) from the United Graduate College and Seminary based in Jonesborough, Tennessee, USA.
An honorary degree is an honour given to elite leaders who exemplify great character and have proven extraordinary achievement and service to their communities, countries or the world as a mark of esteem.
The ceremony, presided over by Prof Clyde Rivers (Ph.D), Prof Arch. Bishop Arthur Kitonga, Prof Nathan Kahara and Prof Bonny Katatumba (Ph.D) took place at the Kampala Serena Hotel on 25 January 2016.
“Doctor Jennifer Semakula Musisi, I am humbled,” she posted on her social media platforms.
There were other awardees including Dr Bishop Joshua Lwere, Dr Mayur Muljibhai Madhvani, Dr Andrew Kasirye, Dr Joseph N. Biribonwa, Dr Margaret Sekidde, Dr Kellen Kayonga, Dr Apollo Mutungi, Dr Aneez Bandali Jaffer, Dr Elly Twineyo Kamugisha, Dr Kin Kariisa, Dr Merian Kyomugisha Sebunya and Dr Jeff Jeng Liang Lin.
The UGCSI based in Tennessee, USA was founded in 1982 and runs across 50 Nations Worldwide. The College has also had recipients of Honour as Former President of Mozambique, H.E. Joaquim Chissano, President Laurent Gbagbo of Ivory Coast, Former president Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria First lady of the Republic of Burundi, Denise Nkurunziza with an Honorary Ph.D in Humanities among other influential figures.
