Mwenda “responds” to TVO gay rumours with picture

Mwenda and Fifi.

Veteran journalist Andrew Mwenda has today posted a very telling picture on his Facebook page.

The Independent magazine publisher posted a photo with a lady only identified as Phiona that many have gone on to conclude is his girlfriend.

They say that photos tell 1,000 words, so Mwenda didn’t caption the picture. However it comes in the wake of ghost Facebook account Tom Voltaire Okwalinga claiming that Mwenda is gay. The salacious story posted on TVO’s account stated that Mwenda had been dropped by a wealthy US lover and that their joint account was frozen leaving Mwenda in financial trouble.

Several of the people commenting on the photo were quick to refer to it as a good PR move from Mwenda after Okwalinga’s “revelations.”

“TVO is silenced,” said one Nuwamanya Gilbert Katwire.

James Okurut  wrote, “I didn’t know TVO could shake Andrew like this.”

Ssekiboobo Raymond wrote, “TVO in hiding.”

“TVO lacks what to say all the time. In fact 99% of his assertions are false. Andrew has slapped him a hot one let him find his level. Keep it up Andrew and for those who have ever gotten a chance of knowing this lady, she is the same person newspapers brought some time back,” Amon Byamugisha wrote.

E-no Tugumisirize, who claimed to know the two as a couple said they have been together for a long time.

“I don’t know you that much but at least you have been consistent with Fifi before even you became the Mwenda we know today,” he wrote.

Some people commenting however claimed that people can be bi sexual.

Others couldn’t help but applaud Mwenda for his taste as Phiona is a beautiful woman.

Some urged him to get married already.

Mwenda’s relationship status on his page states he is in “a domestic relationship.” It doesn’t state the person he is in a relationship with. Domestic relationship however means that someone lives with their lover, though they haven’t formalised the relationship with marriage.

Do we hear wedding bells for the senior bachelor?
