Douglas Lwanga reveals all about this year’s grand purple party

Since its inception five years ago, Douglas Lwanga’s “Purple party has been growing from strength to strength. The event which had its humble beginnings at  a Wandegeya joint known as the Bulldog will on Sunday bring over 200 artistes on one stage at Uganda museum!

The event will coincide with NTV’s tenth anniversary where viewers will get a chance to mix and mingle freely with their favourite presenters.

Having witnessed a lot of animosity among artists and presenters,  Douglas Lwanga saw the need to act as a unifying factor on his platform to bridge the gap between artists, fans and presenters who were loyal to different camps.

“The backbone of it all (Purple Party) is the artists that represent Ugandan music although I headline the event. I decided to create a neutral ground and show case  all artists irrespective of whether they like each other or not,” he explains.
Purple party has evolved into a family-affirming event. The previous events were dedicated to artists and their fans but this time around, there’s a provision for children.

“We do not want to leave out the children this time because they are also fans, so there will be lots of face painting, bouncing castles and kids showcasing their talent ” said Douglas.

Douglas further revealed that the platform will offer ground for upcoming talents to take their career to the next level. Through acapella, the most impressive male will walk away with free music videos opportunity while best female will get signed to a top record label.

Huge crowds come with security concerns. Douglas assured fans everything is under control.

”We have included people who understand artists.  Dickson Bond and Phillip of Core Events with their bouncers are some of the personnel who are well trained to cater security on ground and behind stage together with the police,” he stated.

200 artists are 20 DJs are expected to set the party rolling from 10am. Entrance is 10k for children, 20k for adults and table goes for 500k.
