#WCW: Princess Bagaaya, aging gracefully is an understatement

When it comes to Princess Bagaaya, you realize why the word “Speechless” exists. Princess Elizabeth Christobel Edith Bagaaya Akiiki of Tooro also known as the Batebe of Tooro Kingdom, is one of the very first splendors the Pearl of Africa has ever produced.

She was in the limelight again as the guest of honour at last weekend’s high class Kakira Nile Polo Club tournament that was organised by the wealthy Madhvani family and sponsored by Johnnie Walker Platinum Label.

Born in 1936 to King Rukidi III and Queen Kezia of Tooro, Princess Bagaaya went to Kyebambe Girls’ SS and Gayaza High School. In 1962, she graduated from Cambridge University with a Law degree and became the first East African female lawyer.

Aside from being a lawyer, the princess also gave lots of men sleepless nights with her smashing beauty as a supermodel, gracing all the world class fashion magazines.  She has also held Ugandan official duties as Ambassador to the US, Germany and the Vatican as well as High Commissioner to Nigeria.

After the demise of her husband, Prince Wilberforce Nyabogo who died in a plane crush, Princess Bagaaya left public service and has since been involved in a series of charity works.

At 80, she is literally aging gracefully.
