Bayimba Festival of the Arts on this entire weekend

The ninth edition of Bayimba International Festival of the Arts is on this entire weekend.
Starting this Friday September 16 until Sunday, at a cost of 5k per day, Ugandan and foreign arts enthusiasts will be treated to a feast of Uganda’s finest arts including music, dance, theatre, theme and visual arts for three consecutive days at the National Theatre.

South Africa’s Mboweni will perform on Sunday.




The line-up of acts that will present at the theatre’s gardens stage space incude Mbale’s top hiphop duo Sharon Sento and Byg Ben, Hoppy benny from Gulu, Blood Brother’s band from Germany, while spinning the turn-tables will be DJ Wurzeholz, Femme Electronics alongside Ugandan reggae sensation Mighty Son. Jamaican born Anthony Jermaine and the Mataali Group will be showcasing from the auditorium.

The auditorium will also host theatrical groups like Mandragora Circo from Argentina, Zimbabwe’s Lamentations @ 12 and Uganda’s Pride Performers. A couple of African films will also be presented courtesy of Amakula Film Festival.

Unlike previous editions of the Bayimba Festival, this year’s edition will showcase fashion as the main voice of this particular segment with a proper catwalk and sitting. Uganda’s fashion mogul Ras Kasozi will highlight the fashion show in a theme dubbed Seed Fashion show along with Buyi Phil who will unveil his KKolo collection. At an extra 5k, there will also be the popular highlight activity “Silent Disco.”

Gospel singer Exodus is also lined to perform.

Other performers include Kadongo Kamu maestros Willy Mukabya, Kazibwe Kappo and Fred Ssebbale, dancer and choreographer Faisal Ddamba along with Vizuri Dance Company, Kanaan Gents and a comedy showcase from the Punchliners.

Bayimba International Foundation is presented by Bayimba Cultural Foundation in partnership with Stichting Doen, Hivos, Danish Center for Cultural and Development, Alliance Francaise, Institute Francaise, Goethe-Zentrum Kampala, Bell Lager, Movit and Zuku TV.
