Fans celebrating the win.

We waited for this moment for 38 years. And for most people in Namboole, they didn’t wait the whole 38 years because they had never seen such a moment in their lifetime. Uganda last qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations in 1978 and for the previous campaigns, it has been heartbreak after heartbreak.

Goal scorer Farouk Miya.

All we needed this time was a win, this time against a less fancied team and our boys delivered the results thanks to a Farouk Miya goal. Namboole was packed to rafters and tens of thousands of people witnessed history in the making. Here are some remarkable images.
