Bobi Wine could join Parliament to replace Kyadondo East MP who was recently thrown out

Bobi Wine3Singer Bobi Wine, real name Kyagulanyi Ssentamu could soon join Parliament, reliable forces inform us.

Bobi Wine is eyeing the Kyadondo East Parliament seat, which fell vacant after the High Court in Kampala threw out FDC’s Apollo Kantinti over electoral irregularities in the February 18 elections.

NRM candidate Sitenda Sebalu who was the former area MP petitioned court, which ruled in his favour, with Justice Isabirye Kaweesa ordering fresh elections.

Kantinti got 9005 votes, beating Sebalu who got 8679 with just 326 votes.

Sources tell us Bobi Wine who comes from a political family is interested in the seat. His elder brother “Chairman” Nyanzi was an LC V councillor in Kampala and he stood for the Kampala Central MP seat on an NRM ticket but lost to independent candidate Mohammad Nsereko in the recent elections.

Bobi’s other brother, Afrigo Band’s Eddie Yawe also stood for the Kira Municipality MP seat, but lost out to FDC’s Ssemujju Ibrahim Nganda.

But Bobi Wine who calls himself the Ghetto President is a strong contender as he has used his music to voice the concerns of the common man. He scored more political points in the recent elections when he chose not to jump onto the Tubonga Nawe bandwagon where top musicians used the song to canvas votes for President Museveni.

We are not sure whether Bobi will stand on an FDC ticket, because Kantinti could stand again, but the singer is close to FDC stalwart Rtd. Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye and he visited him in Luzira prison where he is incarcerated on treason charges earlier this week.

If Bobi Wine gets Besigye’s blessing, chances are high that he will win the election.

“I will talk about it when the time is right,” Bobi Wine said when asked by his fans.

“The oppressor should NOT get comfortable, the oppressed should NOT give up. #2016 is not over yet!” Bobi summed up his non-committal statement.
