Melvyn might not get Ugandan passport in time for Botswana

It has become a matter of great doubt as to whether Werder Bremen forward Lorenzen Melvyn will feature for the Uganda Cranes in their crunch AFCON 2017 qualifier away to Botswana come Saturday.

This follows the Passport Department at the Ministry of Internal Affairs revealring that it has to first get clearance from the German government to issue Lorenzen with a Ugandan passport. Lorenzen already holds a German passport, and issuing him with a Ugandan one will effectively make the forward a dual citizen of both Uganda and Germany.
However, FUFA spokesperson Ahmed Hussein has insisted that as FUFA they are working in tandem with the Ministry of Internal Affairs to get Lorenzen a passport in time so that he can be available for selection against Botswana on Saturday.
“Working together with the Ministry, we have systematically gone through the process of ensuring Melvyn gets a Ugandan passport in time, and we are sure he will have it by Saturday,” Hussein said.
Melvyn has reportedly made quite an impression in the Cranes camp, with his size particularly winning him favour with coach Micho, in addition to his good technique, movement and shooting.
