The debate has been raging on who East Africa’s biggest artiste is. And the people bringing up this debate pit our Jose Chameleone against Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz.
Those in support of Chameleone give him credit for commanding the largest following in the entire region and having remained relevant for more than a dozen years, while those in support of Diamond Platnumz say the awards that he has racked up in recent years speak for themselves.
But Diamond Platnumz is the best man to put end this debate after he showed respect to Chameleone, calling him the Godfather of East African music and a legend of legends!
Diamond took to his Instagram to big up Chameleone who has collaborated with Tanzanian singer Barnaba Classic.
“Get ready for a brand new hit from the best vocalist @barnabaclassic ft the East African Godfather Legend of Legends,” Diamond said.
Meanwhile, the singer picked up his MTV Ema African artiste trophy, also picking the Best African/Indian act that was based on voting at awards ceremony in Milan, Italy earlier this week.
“This is not my Trophy it’s our trophy, me and You!.. because i believe without your Votes i wouldn’t have made it… wanna thank God my Africa and All WorldWide fans, My fellow Artists, Media without forgeting my Family and Management….Many thanks to @MtvEma & @mtvbaseafrica for recognize my efforts,” Diamond Platnumz said.
Chameleone was nominated for the MTV Ema awards in 2007, that were in Munich, Germany, but D’banj lifted the trophy.
