The 56-year-old soldier who was the former Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) passed away last Saturday on a flight from South Korea. He didn’t make the connecting flight from Dubai to Entebbe as he had died mid-air on a flight from the Asian nation.
The body was received by high ranking army officers like Gen. Elly Tumwine, Gen. Ivan Koreta, Gen. Kale Kayihura and the Commissioner General of Uganda Prisons Johnson Byabashaija. Aronda’s family was also at the airport.
Aronda’s wife Linda comforts her daughter as her son looks on at Entebbe Airport.
The body was taken to Mulago Hospital for treatment. Tomorrow it will lie in State at Parliament and will later be taken to his Buziga home for vigil. There will be church service for the deceased at Kololo Independence Grounds on Friday and the body will later be flown to his ancestral home in Rukungiri. Burial will take place on Sunday.
