Eddy Kenzo is on cloud nine after making history, being the first Ugandan to win a BET Award, but what is making him even happier is a personal congratulatory letter from the Kabaka Of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.
Kenzo who is still in California got word of his letter from the Kabaka and he gave strict instructions that no one should open it until he returns home.
“Guess what!!!!? Great news great news! I just got word that Sabasajja Magulu Nyondo Muwenda Mutebi II King of Buganda has sent me a letter. I can’t wait to get home and open it####! Ab’eka munyambe temugisumulula banangeeee hoo. Owangaale Sabasajja Mukama akuwangaaze Taata waffe!” the singer posted on his Facebook wall.
Kenzo meets the Kabaka at the king’s recent birthday party where the Sitya Loss star also performed.
Sources say the Kabaka is congratulating Kenzo upon his achievement, using his local language Luganda in his musical craft, hence promoting Buganda culture.
When Kenzo won the award, he taunted those who always “dissed” his poor command of English saying, “Awangale sabasajja oluganda luntusiza walaaaaaaaaaaaaa nyooooooo banange God is everything,” meaning, long live the Kabaka, Luganda has brought me this far.
We just hope baby Aamaal doesn’t open the letter before daddy’s return.
