“The scars are reminders of what I have been through, but they will not dictate where I am going,” Aisha Nabukeera said recently in an interview.
And it looks like the girl who was burnt by her step mother in 2006 is focusing on the future, as she is one of the girls who turned for the Miss Uganda Kampala pre selection at Guvnor on Tuesday morning.
Nabukeera was raised by social critic Frank Gashumba who took on the role of her guardian after the unfortunate event and he has seen her through school.
She recently finished her A ‘Level offering History, Geography, Economics and Sub-Mathematics, scoring 15 points.
She studied on a scholarship at St Lawrence and her classmates are not surprised by her move to contest for Miss Uganda as she was bold and also love dance, drama and the arts in general.
We shall know if Nabukeera made the cut of the finalists during the presentation night at the Kampala Serena Hotel on Thursday.
The Miss Uganda finals will be held on July 10 at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
