Nigerian singer Timaya performed at the regional Club Mega Fest in Jinja (check out the photos) on Saturday and at Water Front Beach in Entebbe on Sunday.

The singer, famed for songs like Sanko, My Body and Bum Bum made a killing in Uganda as our sources say he was paid a whopping $90,000 (about Shs270m) to perform.

Sources say that Timaya signed a contract to hold three shows in East Africa with promoter Suudi Lukwago, with each show costing $30,000 (about Shs90m). Apparently, the third show was supposed to be held in Juba, South Sudan, but the promoter who was supposed to take over the Juba show backtracked.

Suudi negotiated with Timaya to take the money for two shows, but the Nigerian stuck to his guns that he wasn’t stepping on the plane before he received full payment of the money in his contract!

Club beer, the show’s sponsors had to come in to foot part of the bill to ensure that the event goes on as planned.
