On Tuesday, singer Desire Luzinda shared a photo on her social media platforms with Buganda Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga. The Ekitone singer and the Katikkiro were both in the US and the impression the photo created was that the two had a private moment together.
This was far from the truth as Desire was just one of the many Ugandans the Katikkiro took photos with at Friends Beauty Salon in Lexington, Waltham. The Katikkiro had gown down to the salon that is owned by a Uganda for a haircut.
Our UK sources say the salon is owned by a Ugandan barber Douglas Lwanga (no relation to NTV’s presenter of the same name). Lwanga used to be a barber at Salon Sparrows at the New Taxi Park that was very popular in the 1990s before he decided to go for kyeyo.
“The Katikkiro went for a haircut and he got overwhelemd by the number of Ugandans that were in the salon. They asked for a photo opportunity with him and he obliged. Luzinda was just one of them, but she twisted the whole thing on social media,” our US source told us.
The Katikkiro’s US trip took him to Los Angeles and Boston where he raised over Shs100m in his ettofaali fundraising campaign.
