NTV Uganda has been on the receiving end of social media backlash after firing Be My Date presenter Anita Fabiola.
The presenter was fired after her nud3 images leaked and the management . “This tarnishes our brand image and core values, a foundation on which we are built and respected,” An e-mail from the company’s head of human resource Solomon Muhirwa read.
However, some sections of the public have come out to defend Fabiola as a victim of leaked nud3 images, that were made public without her will.
Among the people who think NTV was high handed is Sanyu FM presenter James Onen aka FatBoy who summed up Fabiola’s dismissal as gibberish.
“If this email is legit I have to say I’m disappointed in these people. Who still thinks like this in 2015. No one besides corporate bureaucrats give a f*ck about “brand image” anymore. This is just corporate gibberish,” the presenter posted on his Facebook wall, also sharing a copy of the e-mail.
“Am also very much disappointed in NTV,” Maureen Basuuta weighed in.
Her nudity their concern damn.. these NTV guys are so over their heads…no woman with a sound mind would wish that for herself….,”one Eye Zac K posted.
But some other people supported NTV’s decision. “In the past years the company’s value consisted of tangible assets, Today the average corporation’s value is intangible. A business’s most valuable asset is its good name, its brand and reputation. Brand reputation value has four basic elements: expectations, perceptions, business relationships and unique intellectual property assets. Any action against these pillars affects the company’s position,” said former MTN Uganda Youth Segment Manager Gasper Mbowa.
“One would think that a company has the right to fire an employee if it believes that employee is creating a negative image for the organization, no?” Joseph Magoola said.
