Proposals are never that dramatic in Uganda. It is usually as unromantic as a guy telling his girlfriend, “When are we visiting your parents for the kwanjula.” And at the kwanjula, the parents ask him when he hopes to officially marry their daughter. He blurts out a date and soon messages make the rounds calling for wedding meetings.
Those things of dramatic proposals are usually reserved for romantic movies, but NTV Xposed TV show presenter went down on his knees in front of thousands of teenage fans at the Buzz Teeniez Awards held at Kati Kati Grounds on Saturday and asked for singer Fille Mutoni’s hand in marriage.
It was a surprise to Fille when her performance was cut short for Kats to go down on bended knee. Galaxy FM presenter DJ Nimrod took on the role of Kat’s “mwogezi” (spokesman), when he grabbed the microphone and said. “Galaxy FM are sponsors and I am going to use the language of our station. Will you be Kat’s Muzinyi (“dance partner”) forever?
Ziina is the catchphrase of Galaxy FM and in means to dance, but it is a word laced with sexual innuendo as it can also mean having sex.
Fille who recently gave birth to Kat’s baby girl (above) asked the audience “Twesana”? Twesana is a phrase borrowed from Sheebah’s song, which in question form loosely translates to “do we suit it each other?” The crowd replied in the affirmative. “That mean’s yes, it is a yes,” Fille replied sending the audience into wild cheers.
Kats who also doubles as Fille’s manager got down on one knee and placed an engagement ring on her finger.
Recently, The Kampala Sun reported that Kats and Fille’s relationship was on the rocks because of Kat’s philandering but we guess all that is water down the drain as wedding bells are ringing.
