Former FDC party president Dr. Kiiza Besigye intervened to try to save singer Harriet Kisakye’s life by transferring her from Mulago Hospital to the privately owned IHK hospital in Namugongo on Thursday, but unfortunately the Lord had other plans and Kisakye passed away on Saturday.
Many are wondering why Dr. Kiiza Besigye would intervene to help the singer later who succumbed to a mysterious illness. Kisakye and Besigye were good friends and she composed a song titled Doctor that drummed up support for the then FDC leader’s failed 2011 presidential election bid.
“We will miss. REST IN PEACE my dear Sister Harriet Kisaakye. We will always remember you for this great song ‘Doctor’ in honour of and
campaigning for Kiiza Besigye,” Ingrid Turinawe, the leader of FDC Women chapter said on Saturday.
Kisakye was an opposition leaning musician and he brother Vicent Lugonvu (R.I.P) was the secretary general of the Democratic Party’s youth brigade. He passed away in 2005 following injuries from a beating he sustained from Kisakye’s home in Namasuba. He was just 23. Kisakye remained linked to the opposition met Dr Kiiza Besigye, composing the Doctor song and hitting the campaign trail with him.
“Gone too soon, our dear sister Harriet Kisakye… May your soul rest in eternal peace…..kitalo nyo,” Kampala
Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago who knew Kisakye since her late brother’s DP days posted on his wall.
Kisakye will be laid to rest at her ancestral home in Kayunga on Monday.
