Singer Desire Luzinda has been arrested by Police, and it is nothing related to her nude pictures. The singer was netted this Saturday morning on arrival from Congo Brazzaville over a case of obtaining money by false pretense.
Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, confirmed her arrest, saying Desire refused to respond to summons from Police after a case of obtaining money by false pretense was filed against her by a university lecturer whose identity he refused to disclose.
Matooke Republic understands that the lecturer Jimmy Alemiga of Cavendish University in Nsambya and the money she allegedly borrowed is Shs24m.
Last October, Desire’s nude images were leaked by her Nigerian ex-boyfriend Franklin Emoubor. The events that led to the leaking of her photos are similar to the current situation. Desire was held over a Shs21m debt she had failed to honour and she claimed that she had borrowed the money on behalf of the Nigerian.
The Nigerian was angry at Desire’s allegations, claiming he had actually sponsored her June 2014 Black and White Concert at the Kampala Serena Hotel, yet she was claiming he had conned her. As a pay back, he decided to leak her photos.
Desire was netted by Civil Aviation Police after she disembarked from an Ethiopian Airlines flight, and she was handed over to Kireka Special Investigations Division.
The singer was released after eight hours of investigations that also included how she helped her Nigerian ex Franklin secure a Ugandan passport.
