Government spokesperson Ofowno Opondo says that an Emirates airline hostess found Aronda dead on the plane. She tried to wake him up for breakfast and discovered that he was unresponsive.
Apparently, he had boarded the plane in good health.
An earlier a photo had been circulating on social media of Aronda in an airport bus with claims that it was the last photo of him alive in Dubai. It turns out that photo was taken earlier.
A check-in document at Dubai airport that is now circulating on social media shows that Aronda wasn’t checked in to the Entebbe bound flight because he had passed away enroute to Dubai from South Korea.
Aronda had flown to South Korea on official government business related to the national ID project.
A team of government pathologists led by UPDF chief of medical services Dr James Makumbi has been sent to Dubai to carry out a post mortem and ascertain the cause of Aronda’s death.
His body is expected in the country on Tuesday or Wednesday.
