Interview: Konshens says “I’m home again.”

konshJamaican dancehall star Konshens arrived in the country last evening ahead of his concert with countryman Busy Signal ahead of their concert at the Lugogo Cricket Oval this evening.  Konshens had a few things to say about Uganda. Read on.

You have been to Uganda a couple of times before? How does it feel being back?

It feels like I am home. Once again I am home.

The first time you were here, you did a documentary because you couldn’t believe the love you got from Ugandans …

It’s good to feel the love, and feeling is mutual.  The people here love the music, and they grow to love artiste as a result of that. I love Ugandans as well.

Speaking of love. You are a ladies man. What do you think about Ugandan women.

The ladies in Uganda are the closest comparison to Jamaican women, and I love Jamaican Jamaican ladies (you do the maths).  They have the same sexiness.

Are married by the way?

No I’m not married.

That should be music to Ugandan women’s ears …

… but I found a lady back home in Jamaica. It is just that we are not yet married (sorry ladies).

What have you been up to since you were last here?

I am always ion studio creating new music. Even if I have to be on the road, I have to make new music. So, there is a whole bunch of new music and videos.

And what do you say about today’s concert with Busy Signal.

People have branded it as a battle, but it is not a battle.  That is not gonna happen. Konshens and Busy Signal are among the frontrunners of dancehall and reggae music. Whjat you are going to have is two great artistes doing different sets.
