Africa is not a country: Yemi Alade tells BET

yemi alade1[dropcap]L[/dropcap]ooks like many African stars are not happy with Black Entertainment Television (BET). After Azonto singer Fuse  ODG saying he didn’t attend the ceremony because African are not given equal treatment to US stars (click here to read the story), Johnnie singer Yemi Alade has added her voice to the BET criticism, schooling them that Africa is not a country.

Yemi was one of the nominees in the Best International Act Africa category that was won by Ghana’s Stonebwoy.

Even if Ugandans are happy for Eddy Kenzo winning a BET Award, Yemi Alade feels that African stars are humiliated at the awards.

“By the way…@bet_intl AFRICA IS NOT A COUNTRY.!!! ..IT IS WRONG TO NOMINATE HUGE AFRICAN STARS AND PUBLICLY TRY TO HUMILIATE AFRICA.WHY ON EARTH IS THE AFRICAN CATEGORY OF THE AWARDS HELD HOURS BEFORE THE “MAIN EVENT?” she posted on her Instagram feed.

She went ahead and called for BET to cancel the African category if they don’t want to respect African stars.

IF AFRICAN ARTISTS ARE NOT WORTHY IN YOUR SIGHT. PLS BY ALL MEANS CANCEL,DELETE,OMMIT THE “BEST INTERNATIONAL ACT (AFRICA) CATEGORY OUT OF THIS GLORIFIED AWARD. THIS IS WRONG! !! WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG.”
