Bebe Love You Everyday

Ugandans have upped their music video game, and we are starting to reap the fruits of international recognition. Bebe Cool’s Love You Everyday has landed a nod on the MTV Africa Music Awards nomination list for Video Of The Year.

The nominations were revealed last evening in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Our “muko” Diamond Platnumz aka Ba Wa Zari from Tanzania is also representing East Africa as he is nominated as the Best African Artiste and Kenya’s Sauti Sol completes the UTAKE list with two nods for Best Group and Song Of The Year for their run-away hit Sura Yako.

Nigerian music sensation and reigning MTVMAMA Artiste of the Year, Davido landed three nominations in the MTV Africa Music Awards KwaZulu-Natal 2015. He bagged the nominations Best Male, Best Collaboration and Video Of The Year for The Sound featuring Uhuru & DJ Buckz.

Another Nigerian, Wizkid, who performed in Kampala last year, got two nominations for Best Male and Song Of The Year for Show Me The Money.

Togo’s Tofaan is the overall top with four nominations for Best Collaboration, Best Live, Best Francophone and Song Of The Year. Tofaan has the Sitya Loss remix with Eddy Kenzo, though in the Best Collaboration category, he was nominated for the Apero remix with DJ Arafat of Ivory Coast.

A total of 70 nominees were revealed at the event, across 13 different categories. Nominees for additional categories, including the MTV Base Leadership Award and Best International Act, will be revealed at a later date.  Last year, Humphrey Nabimanya of Reach A Hand Uganda was nominated in the Leadership Award that was eventually won by Asish Thakkar another Ugandan of Indian origin.

The winners for the Mamas will be decided by votes and will be revealed during the live TV broadcast on July 18.
