Keep your Buzz Awards: Gashumba’s lawyers write to Buzz to put her off nomination list  or else …

gashumba

The name Gashumba and the word controversy fit perfectly in one sentence like bride and groom. In fact if Frank Gashumba and his daughter Sheila made a reality series, it would rival Keeping Up With The Kardashians, because we just can’t keep up with the Gashumbas.

Just after their cyber battle with Makerere University students, the Gashumbas are back at it, and this time taking on the organisers of the Buzz Teeniez Awards.

Sheilah Gashumba is nominated in the Teeniez TV presenter category, but through their lawyers, they have written to the awards organisers to strike her name off the nominees list or they drag them to court.

Actually, the Gashumba-Buzz beef started last year when UBC’s MC Talha beat her to the award. The Gashumba’s cried foul play, because MC Talha also works for Buzz Events, the organisers of the awards.

Talha is nominated again in the same category with Gashumba and they say they are not ready to be used to build Talha’s name in the awards that are taking place next Saturday at Kati Kati.

“Talha has been on Buzz activations in schools, asking students to vote in the awards. He is nominated and that means there is a conflict of interest,” Gashumba said.”

“Awards in Uganda have lost sense. Every chicken wants to organise an award show. Some sell awards to anyone with money and others give them to their friends. We cannot be part of such circus,” Gashumba senior said.

“To make matters worse, whenever they organise bogus awards and give them to undeserving people, the public out there thinks that the person who has been given the award is better, which is not the case, ” he added.

In a strongly worded letter, Gashumba’s lawyers asked the Buzz Awards organisers to strike her name off the nomination list and informed them that she is not desirous of receiving a Buzz Award which they termed as irrelevant.

“Our client with immediate effect denounces interest in the said nominations and or awards at all. The said awards are short of transparency and relevancy to our client’s career present and future. Our client hence instructs us as we hither do, to direct you to strike out her name off any nomination whatsoever, with immediate effect as soon as getting this notice. Please note that failure thereof, we shall institute court process against you as instructed.”
