The government owned New Vision this morning reported that singer AK47 had been beaten at Dejavu bar before he collapsed in the establishment’s washrooms and was later pronounced dead at Nsambya Hospital where he had been rushed.

Quoting Kabalagala Police criminal investigations boss Nusulah Kemigisha, New Vision reported that police suspected foul play because AK47 real names Emmanuel Mayanja had bruises on the chest.

However, Matooke Republic has talked to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango who refutes the New Vision story though he says investigations are still ongoing.

“The statement we have is that he was not beaten. There wasn’t even a fight,” Onyango told us.

“It was peaceful at the bar and AK47 and his friends were listening to music on their laptops,” Onyango further went on.

He collaborates first accounts that AK47 collapsed in the washrooms of Dejavu bar.

“Investigations are still going on at the premises and the body was taken to Mulago Hospital for a postmortem. We shall furnish you with more details as they come in,” he added.

AK47 was a younger brother to singers Jose Chameleone, Weasel and Pallaso.

We shall keep you posted on the developments.
