Businessman Katumwa arrested for defiling P.7 girl

Businessman David Katumwa is behind bars after being accused of defiling a P.7 girl.

Katumwa who is the owner of Katumwa Sports Centre is being held at Katwe Police Station where he was booked on Thursday afternoon.

The girl (names withheld because she is a minor) accused the businessman of luring her to a lodge in Zzana before defiling her.

The girl led cops Silda Guest House in Zzana where she claims Katumwa took her.

“He gave me Shs20,000 and warned me never to tell anyone or he would bewitch me,” the girl said.

Katumwa denied the charges telling the cops that it was his first time at the guest house when cops investigating the matter took him to the “scene of the crime.”

“Those people (her family) want money from me and they are cooking these things,” Katumwa told police.

“I know the girl, she comes to my house and plays with my children,” he said.

The self-made businessman who started out selling second hand sports goods in Owino Market before growing to his Katumwa Sports Centre on Ben Kiwanuka Street faces a maximum sentence of life in in jail in case he is found guilty.
