President Museveni has shared his “tactics” with Coach Micho as Uganda Cranes takes on Guinea Bissau in the final game of Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Wednesday evening.
“Our boys need to position well during corner kicks because in the games against Ethiopia and Ghana, we got two goals from such set pieces,” Museveni told Coach Milutin Sredojevich via phone on Tuesday morning.
“Do not play under pressure, do not panic. Ugandans are proud of you. Qualify and be part of history,” Museveni said.
Uganda needs a draw against Guinea in the game taking place in Casablanca, Morroco, to qualify for Africa’s biggest soccer competition. The Cranes who beat Ghana at Namboole on Saturday to boost their chances have not qualified since 1978.
Museveni told Micho that he will be following the match.
Museveni’s call boosted morale in the Cranes camp and captain Andy Mwesigwa said the players will play their hearts out and asked Ugandans to pray for them.
Kick off time is 7pm and it will be screened on Supersport 7.
At Matooke Republic, we wish our boys the best.
