Sharp shooter: Muhammad Nsereko nets two goals for MPs

Kampala Central Member of Parliament Muhammad Nsereko has got game. He might just be what the Uganda Cranes need to end the goal drought (we are just joking). He was the man of the match as he netted two goals for the Parliament team against the Cabinet Ministers in a football match played at Namboole stadium on Sunday.

The MPs won 3-0 with the other goal being scored by Aruu County MP Odongo Otto, while the ministers missed a penalty in the dying minutes of the game.

In goal was the Minister of Education and Sports Hon. Jessica Alupo who conceded all the 3 goals in the first half of the game while in defence was Hon. Charles Bakabulindi, the  State Minister for sports. Perhaps that’s a clear signal that they should stick to policy making and leave issues of the game to the real sportsmen.

The game was played for 20 minutes, with each half lasting 10 minutes.

The match was played to create awareness for a new campaign to help combat the spread of HIV/Aids, dubbed Protect the Goal Campaign.

President Museveni was the guest of honour and even if he didn’t get to play, he displayed his soccer skills by juggling the ball.

But the main game of the day was between Uganda Cranes and Ethiopia. Uganda won 3-0 thanks to goals from Geoffrey Massa, Yunus Sentamu and Farouk Miya. It served as good preparation for the Cranes who face Ghana in a must win Africa Cup of Nations qualifier game at Namboole on Saturday.
