Are female singers “corporate” prostitutes?

There is a view in the general public that most female musicians are “corporate prostitutes” who sleep loaded with men for large sums of money.

Last week singer Desire Luzinda’s photos were leaked by her ex-boyfriend Nigerian Franklin Emoubor Ebenhron. He claimed he had been giving her lots of money including Shs150m to finance her concert and she paid him back by calling him a conman when she was arrested over a Shs20m debt saying she had borrowed the money on his behalf.

With the large sums of money mentioned and also considering the fact that Desire has been linked to several other moneyed fellas, the general public believes that female celebs will sleep with the highest bidder.

Matooke Republic talked to some female musicians about whether it’s true that music is actually not their major source of income and whether they have ever been offered cash for sex.

We asked Cindy if any guy has ever offered her money for sex. She said yes and revealed that the guy wanted to give her $18,000 (about Shs48m) for a steamy session, but she told us that she rejected the offer. “Money can get my attention yes, but not a date, love or sex. I love myself too much to sell myself.”

She went on and sent a message to Desire saying that she feels and knows exactly what Desire is going through since her nude photos were also leaked a while back. “If I had to tell her something, I would say, be comforted by the fact that you are one hot mama who has a spotless body.”

Jackie O.

Jackie O who was formerly with the Obsessions told Matooke Republic that no man has ever approached her with an offer of sex for cash, but nevertheless she wouldn’t accept such an offer because she’s priceless. “I wouldn’t accept money for love or sex because I believe in making my own money in whatever hustle I go through. I don’t have a new Landcruiser but my Toyota Voxy takes me everywhere I want to go. I’m priceless.”

Jackie says Desire should take heart because all will be well and that she should never give up on love because she’s a very beautiful woman.

Bella

When we asked Bella, she said she wouldn’t go in for a man who has money because the first intention for any relationship should be love and every artiste should not let stardom drown them. “Appreciate what you are and what you have. If you want more, just work for it,” she said.

Asked if she has been approached by wealthy men for sex, she says her anthem just like her song is Sipapa, Sigaba (I don’t rush and I don’t give).

She also had encouraging words for Luzinda. “To my girl Desire, things happen and once you accept what happened, you can move on. It might not be easy, but try. It’s not the end of the world. You are a beautiful, talented woman and what happened shouldn’t stop you from achieving you dreams. Because the best revenge is success.”

Hellen Lukoma

Hellen Lukoma says singers shouldn’t be taken up by money because relationships should be a mutual understanding between two people. “If a loaded guy ever approaches me, I would tell him to double what he’s offering and if he does, I tell him to triple the offer and so on until he gives up.”

“What if he offers Shs1billion?” Matooke Republic asked. “I would offer ask for 2billion and if he said yes I would say I have upped the price to 4billion, he would eventually give up.”

She had no kind words for Desire’s ex-lover who leaked her nude pictures.

“What Franklin did was so bad and hurting. If he truly loved her, he wouldn’t have done such a thing.”
