Besigye, Ingrid, youths overpower Police in Rukungiri

Kizza Besigye has made a triumphal entry in Rukingiri town after youths overpowered Police and cleared the Police road blockage to the town.

As the crowd grew bigger, the youths energised by singing National Anthem, Togikwatako, Tooka Kwa Bara Bara and religious songs made their way escorting Besigye and Ingrid Turinawe. There were running battles as Police fired tear gas and live bullets. However, the crowd grew stronger and subdued the attempt of dispersal.

At the time of this writing, Police has blocked the entry to the playground with Besigye and the growing crowd a few yards away.

Update

Teargas and bullets rocked Rukingiri a few yards away from Rukingiri stadium as the Besigye rally was foiled despite the triumphal entry. There are fears a young man has been shot dead.

Besigye was slated to address a rally over the plan to amend the presidential age limit.
